The difference between double support and single support of planetary reducer

Publish Time: 2024-03-27 Origin: site

The interior of the WPEDKS155-250,WPEX40-70,WPEX50-80,WPEX60-100,WPEX70-120 planetary reducer includes a planetary carrier, planetary gears, sun gear, inner ring gear, and other components. The planetary carrier of the planetary reducer has two types: double support and single support. So, what are the differences between dual support and single support planetary reducers?

1. Differences in structure

The planetary carrier of the double supported planetary reducer is hollowed out by CNC, and then a pin hole is drilled on the upper machining center. It is also necessary to ensure that the pin holes on the upper and lower surfaces are completely concentric (otherwise the gear and gear will not mesh). Then, the gear is inserted and finally fixed with a pin. Both sides of the gear are supported by the planetary carrier.

The single support planetary reducer has three pin holes drilled on the planetary carrier, three pins are placed, and the gear is fixed on the pins. One side of the gear is the planetary carrier, the other side is suspended, and a baffle is placed at the back to separate it.

2. Differences in force distribution

The gears on the planetary carrier of a double supported planetary reducer are subjected to force on both sides, while the gears on the planetary carrier of a single supported planetary reducer are subjected to force on only one side.

3. Performance differences

The gear of a single support planetary reducer will deviate in the opposite direction of the output shaft transmission, and the friction coefficient between the planetary gear and the planetary inner ring gear will increase. As a result, the noise of the planetary reducer will increase, the efficiency will decrease, the temperature will rise, and even serious oil leakage will occur.

In addition, planetary reducers are mainly used in conjunction with servo motors, which are characterized by their small size, high accuracy, and frequent use in both forward and reverse directions. When a single support planetary reducer is frequently used in combination with a servo motor for forward and reverse rotation, the gear pins on the planetary carrier of the single support planetary reducer are prone to rigid deformation, which can cause the clearance of the single support planetary reducer to increase.

Due to the support on both sides of the planetary carrier, the gears of the double supported planetary reducer do not deviate to one side during transmission, and the gear pins do not undergo rigid deformation. The dual support planetary reducer has support points on both sides of the gear, so when the output end of the servo planetary reducer is loaded, the gear will not deviate to one side. Because there will be no slipping or locking, it can better ensure concentricity and accuracy.

4. Differences in costs

The double support planetary reducer needs to first empty the center of the planetary carrier with CNC, and then drill holes on the upper machining center. It is also necessary to ensure that the pin holes on the upper and lower surfaces are completely concentric. If the pin holes on both surfaces are misaligned, the entire planetary carrier will be scrapped. So the processing cost of a double supported planetary reducer is about 20% higher than that of a single supported planetary reducer, so a double supported planetary reducer is much more expensive than a single supported planetary reducer.
