How to install the planetary reducer

Planetary reducers are widely used in servo, stepper, DC, and other transmission systems due to their small size, high transmission efficiency, wide deceleration range, and high accuracy. Its function is to reduce the rotational speed, increase torque, and reduce the rotational inertia ratio of the load/motor while ensuring precise transmission. In the past, some users used to break the output shaft of the planetary gear unit due to illegal installation and other factors, causing unnecessary losses to the enterprise. Therefore, how to correctly install the planetary reducer is the content we will learn today.

Step 1: Before installation, confirm whether the motor and reducer are intact, and strictly check whether the dimensions of each connected part match. Here are the dimensions and fit tolerances of the positioning boss, input shaft, and reducer groove of the motor.

Step 2: Unscrew the screws on the dust proof hole on the outer side of the reducer flange, adjust the PCS system clamping ring to align its side hole with the dust proof hole, and insert the hexagon socket to tighten it. After that, remove the motor shaft key.

Step 3: Connect the motor and the reducer naturally. During connection, it must be ensured that the concentricity of the output shaft of the reducer and the input shaft of the motor are consistent, and that the outer flanges of the two are parallel. Inconsistent centering can cause the motor shaft to break or the reducer gear to wear.

In addition, during installation, it is strictly prohibited to hit with a hammer or the like to prevent excessive axial or radial force from damaging the bearings or gears. Be sure to tighten the mounting bolts before tightening the tension bolts. Before installation, wipe the antirust oil on the motor input shaft, positioning boss, and reducer connection parts with gasoline or zinc sodium water. The purpose is to ensure the tightness of the connection and the flexibility of operation, and to prevent unnecessary wear.

Before connecting the motor to the reducer, the motor shaft keyway should be perpendicular to the tightening bolt. To ensure uniform stress, first screw on the mounting bolts at any diagonal position, but do not tighten them. Then screw on the other two mounting bolts at diagonal positions, and finally tighten the four mounting bolts one by one. Finally, tighten the tightening bolts. All tightening bolts shall be fixed and inspected using a torque wrench according to the indicated fixed torque data. The correct installation between the gear unit and mechanical equipment is similar to the correct installation between the gear unit and the drive motor. The key is to ensure that the concentricity of the output shaft of the reducer and the shaft of the driven part is consistent.
